National Believe Day with Macy’s and Make a Wish

Christmas is my very favorite time of year. I love the smells, the songs, the decorations, and the caring spirit that you can just see and feel everywhere.  I am teaching my kids that Christmas isn’t just about getting presents, more importantly it’s about doing for others. This year we put together shoe boxes for underprivileged kids through the Operation Christmas Box organization and we dropped off letters for Santa at Macy’s last night as part of their #MacysBelieve campaign.  Did you know that today, December 12th, is National Believe Day? It is a pinnacle moment aimed to inspire generosity and giving throughout the season and encouraging Americans to embrace the spirit of goodwill and charity.

Macy’s stores around the country work with Make-A-Wish to grant “Wishes Across America.”  This year marks the seventh year of Macy’s Believe campaign, which invites believers of all ages to drop off letters to Santa at any Macy’s store by depositing them in special, designated Santa Mail letterboxes. We want you to be a part of Holiday History and write a letter too!  Help us break the Guinness World Record for longest wish list to Santa by submitting your letter in person or online between now and December 24th. Your child’s letter to Santa and help make dreams come true for Make-A-Wish kids around the country. For every letter received through December 24, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish (up to $1,000,000).

Don’t worry if you can’t get to Macy’s because they have made this really easy on you…you can send it online directly to Santa’s inbox!  How cool is that?!  Follow this link to get started. (Anyone can write a letter, not just the kiddos!)

My kids and I dropped off letters last night at our local Macy’s and I have to say they were pretty excited when they saw the table full of postcards and little pencils. We had already filled out our Santa Letters but if you don’t have your own it’s no problem…they have cute postcards you can fill out.

My kids are putting the final touches on their letters.

The little one is making sure the big one did it “properly.”
She is just checking to make sure they are in there. I think she was also looking for elves.
My son, who is twelve, wrote his own but my daughter, only 3.5 years old, needed some help. This is what she wanted Santa, Mrs. Claus, the reindeer, and the elves to know…
I am so proud of my kids for embracing the spirit of giving and doing for others. I thought it would be hard for the little one to understand but she really is beginning to get it. She willingly gathers toys she no longer plays with to give to other little girls who don’t have anything and always thinks about these little girls she calls “friends” when something no longer fits. We have a bag in the closet to put these items, ready to donate when full.
