About Kylie Jenkins

I am a former Marine Biology major and paralegal turned creative director, blogger, party stylist, graphic designer, baker, seamstress, glitter fairy, and magic maker for my two children. My passion has always been cooking, crafting, entertaining, and creating memorable parties and my blog and website reflect my classic girly, pink, sparkly, and glittery style. Oh, and I like champagne. I really really really like champagne. You’ll probably find quite a few champagne recipes around here. I also really like parties. I used to have lots of tea parties with my dolls. In high school I was always looking for an excuse to throw a party and in college I was the social chair for my sorority.

I started this business in 2003 after I struggled to find custom and unique items for my son’s first birthday. After the party, friends and family asked me to help them plan their parties and design their invitations. I started designing and selling custom invitations under the name “Papillon Princess” in late 2003. One night as I was placing the last of about 100 Swarovski crystals on a wedding suite I commented to my husband how sparkly they looked and he said, “That’s because they are made by a princess.” It was as if someone had turned on all the lights in the castle… the next day I changed my name from “Papillon Princess” to “Made by a Princess”.

I began this blog in 2011 as a way to document and share some of the crafts and recipes I was creating for my kids’ parties with my family and friends. I actually never imagined anyone other than my loved ones would read it. My pictures were terrible! I am so embarrassed by my early blog posts! I really had no idea what I was doing. Almost exactly two years from my first post I shared my Marie Antoinette Inspired Favorite Things Party which opened up a whole new world for me. I spent eight months planning that party…I didn’t want to miss a single detail. It’s still my favorite party to date. When you do a Marie Antoinette themed party you have to go big! This was the start of so many wonderful professional relationships and collaborations.

When I’m not planning a party or creating new recipes, you can typically find me with my hunky hubby and two beautiful, smart, amazing kids here in Sunny Southern California. I love to cook, craft, read, watch romcons, go to the movies with my littlest love, drink champagne, and laugh. I really love to laugh.
